Reward Chests are the primary way to obtain Characters in Squad Busters. You obtain them from either the World Journey, Gem Pass, and Battles. They come in three rarities, Common, Rare, and Epic, and three sizes, Normal, Big and Super Big. Higher rarity Reward Chests drop better Characters, while larger Reward Chests drop more Characters.

Reward Chests work similarly to Starr Drops from Brawl Stars, or Lucky Drops from Clash Royale, although they are a bit different. The chests you get from the Journey or Pass already have a pre-defined default Rarity, and can be tapped to increase rarity (if it's not Epic already) or size. The ones you get from Battles are a bit different, though. To get them, you need to finish a match at 8th place least. They visually start at Common, however Squad Busters contains a chest cycle (shown below) similar to Clash Royale. Chests obtained from battles appear to have random rarity upgrades when tapped, but the rarity is predetermined. When tapped, chests have a chance to upgrade in Size. Taps for these chests are awarded based on finishing rank, whether or not you have a big amount of Gems held at the end of the match.

Chest Multipliers[]

Chest Doubler Chest Tripler Chest Quadrupler

Chest Multipliers multiply your Battle Reward Chest's Units. (i.e. if you get 10 chickens with Chest Tripler, you will get 30 Chickens). These Multipliers need to be activated before starting a battle to work. They'll be automatically active if you have at least 1, and they can be deactivated and kept for later. These Multipliers can be unlocked from the Squad Journey, World League, Gem Pass or can be bought in the Shop as special offers for Coins. Chest Multipliers used on Epic Chest yields best output, so use them wisely or as needed.

Item Quantity Cost
Chest Doubler Chest Doubler 1 4000 Coin
Chest Tripler Chest Tripler 1 8000 Coin
Chest Quadrupler Chest Quadrupler 1 12000 Coin

Chest Cycle[]

The rarity of chests is not random, but follows a predefined cycle. This cycle is made up of 60 chests. Once the cycle is complete, it starts again from scratch. Only the number of characters you unlock from chests is random. You can track your chest cycle in Squad Tracker.

Odds[]

Chest Rarity[]

The rarity of a chest received from a battle is determined by the chest cycle. Chests gained from other rewards usually have their rarity set and don't allow upgrades. If all characters from the selected rarity have been evolved to Ultra level, the chest is skipped.

Getting a new Character[]

When opening a Chest without having any character of the chosen rarity, it is guaranteed to contain a new character. Otherwise, if there are characters to unlock from that rarity, there is a 1% chance to unlock a new character. This chance is independant from the number of taps. If you get a chest without any +1s, there is a possibility you may get a new character.

Getting Units[]

Chest have a base quantity of 1 unit, and more will be added though taps. Chest upgrades also consume taps, so rare and epic chests received from battles have less units on average.

Units p/ tap Chance
0 30.0%
1 57.4%
2 4.2%
3 4.2%
4 0.7%
5 0.7%
6 0.7%
7 0.7%
8 0.7%
9 0.7%

On average, each tap grants 1.057 units.

Chest Tickets[]

Chest Ticket

Chest Tickets are the currency used to obtain Reward Chests at the end of a match. They can be bought in the Shop in packs of one for 2000 Coins or five for 10000. They can also be obtained from the Squad Journey and Gem Pass. Chest ticket refills every 3 hours, capped at 3 tickets (thus, 3/3 is reached within 9 hours).

Win Streak[]

If you have a win streak, you obtain more taps for upgrading your chest in size and rarity. Here's how much tap you obtain with every win streak. To know how much taps do you have depending on your placement in the game, click here. If you don't finish in the Top 5, you lose your streak, but you can pay a certain amount of coins to keep it. This is generally not recommended for players who are free to play.
